Requires Bachelor's degree in Clinical or Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or in the chemical or biological sciences; and ASCP or AAB certification as MLS or MT.
In the Molecular Oncology laboratory, Medical Laboratory Scientist, Specialist | NYO will operate and maintain instrument platforms such as Tecan, ABI 7500 Fast DX, ABI 3730xl DNA Analyzer, Bio-Rad dd PCR, and Promega Maxwell instruments; must maintain competency for testing methods for quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction, and capillary electrophoresis.
Will participate in preparing specimens for processing; establish, perform, and document quality assurance, quality control, confirm and verify results through in-depth knowledge of techniques, principles, and instruments. Correlates, interprets and enters data based on knowledge of factors affecting test results.
Will assist with improving the quality control program within Molecular Oncology; will assist in coordinating QC of new reagents, controls, and primers; will assist leads and supervisor in maintaining adequate supply of reagents; will assist with updating SOPs with updated QC metrics.
